Patrick McPhillips

Assistant Head teacher

Patrick is the Deputy Head Teacher who is primarily based within our Prep Department.  He has whole school responsibility for SEND and Mathematics.  He also teaches Year 5 lessons part-time.

Patrick was born in Northern Ireland and moved to England in 2004 where he completed his teacher training at the University of Southampton. Previously, he studied English at the Queen’s University of Belfast and Business Studies at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota. More recently, he worked on a National College leadership programme and received a NPQML accreditation.

Raised by parents who were both teachers, Patrick has had a long-standing interest in education and loves working at St Mary’s. He feels that every child can achieve their full potential in a high quality and continuously improving environment, and believes that all schools should play their part in the wider local community. With staff, parents and community support, Patrick believes St. Mary’s to be an ‘outstanding’ school, where pupils eagerly learn, develop and leave with fun memories.

Outside of school Patrick’s many interests include football, golf, reading and television. Although his football playing days are now over, he tries to play golf whenever he gets the opportunity. He has supported Liverpool FC all his life and his favourite golfer is Northern Ireland’s finest, Rory McIlroy! Most importantly of all, he has a wonderful family who he loves spending time with and is the proud father of two beautiful children called Ava and Finn.
