Year R throw the parents in at the deep end
Monday before the half term break we ran our first workshop for parents in our Reception classes.
The parents participated enthusiastically, especially when Mrs McPherson put them in their children’s shoes and made them practice handwriting on the whiteboards, count and sing their numbers and join in phonics games!
Feedback has been very positive. One parent said, “I really enjoyed the session on Monday, I thought it was informative and a real insight as to what our children are learning and feeling while in class. Putting us unsuspecting parents on the spot with what should be very easy tasks (for us), seemed quite daunting and took me back to being at school (which was quite some time ago might I add). I think that it has helped me to understand and support my child more, it has also made me realise the extra support that we can give her and in a fun way which is nice.”
We plan to run more workshops throughout the year so keep an eye out for them and book your place.
