Year 1 tour the chapel
The chapel is at the heart of our life at St. Mary’s. However, at most of our services, the pupils must stay in their seats and follow with their ears, eyes and hearts. Deep down they wonder, ‘What this is for?’ and ‘Why do we use that?’ Year One came face to face this week with some 50 (yes FIFTY) ‘things’ that are within the chapel. Their task was to seek them out using photographs, then to decide which are used for Mass. Some answers were easy, others difficult; but it was a worthwhile challenge. When they returned to class they had to determine which interested them the most and produce a painted replica. Until they have completed this exercise, those in the front row here show you a few items in advance and ask YOU if you could name them. Meanwhile, please accept this cheerful ‘thank you’ wave from the children and Mrs. Beale as they take their leave from the House of Jesus and return safely home to you in your house of love.
