Theatre Trip to Salisbury Playhouse

dangerous corner

‘Shouldn’t we just let sleeping dogs lie?’

This was the question posed by one of the characters in J B Priestley’s 1932 play ‘Dangerous Corner’ and it was the central theme of this impressive production. Mr O’Farrell, Mrs Hyde and Dr Kowalewski took a coach full of St Mary’s students to Salisbury Playhouse on Valentine’s Day to watch this rarely performed piece and most were left astonished by the thrilling denouements and shocking revelations that Priestley wove into the script.  Year 11 are currently studying Priestley’s ‘An Inspector Calls’ for their Literature GCSE course and the students saw many parallels between the two plays. The trip was a great success and the English Department are planning to organise more theatre visits in future months.
