The Imperial War Museum
On Friday 16th January St Mary’s College went to the Imperial War Museum following its 12 month, multi-million pound refurbishment. Year 9 students have been studying World War One and will soon be moving on to study the Holocaust. Our students visited all of the galleries that represented these two historical topics, as well as many other exhibits of general interest, including art exhibitions and the vehicle gallery. The spectacular museum has aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling and a V2 rocket in its main hall, as well as a piece of the original Berlin Wall. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be up close with some genuine historical artefacts and one of a kind objects of curiosity. The only negative of the whole day was the London traffic jams!
