Talented young skiers!

The Charlton House girls ski team travelled to Norwich last weekend to compete in the English Schools Ski Association (ESSKIA) National Championship Under 12 girls finals, having qualified in the regional heats in Southampton three weeks ago.

Hannah Groves captained the team of four with team members Tina Amini, Nicole Groves and Laura Harrison-Smith.  No-one had skied at Norwich before and it was a much longer slope than they were used to, but all the girls rose to the challenge and skied very well to just get pushed into fourth place.  The teams on the podium consisted of girls from Years 5 and 6, so our young team did very well to keep up with the older children.  A special mention must go to Tina who has only been skiing a short time – this was only her second race and she was one of youngest (if not the youngest) skiers on the slope. She coped with the unfamiliar surroundings and wasn’t fazed by having to share the slope with some much bigger and faster skiers.  She kept her nerve and completed a fantastic second run.

We were very proud of the girls for doing so well and hope that this is the first of many trips to the ESSKIA National Championships.

Well done girls!!!
