St. Mary’s and Charlton pupils have enjoyed life on the ‘high seas’ for the past few weeks taking part in a sailing course, organised by Stormforce Coaching, based at Shamrock Quay. They have learnt the basics of sailing and been a responsive and able crew. Tying knots, securing ropes, steering, controlling and navigating the waters on Keelboats and a 36′ yacht have all been part and parcel of the course. Charlton Pupils; Harry New, Connor Wood, Mark Jennings, Alberto Fernandez de la Torre, Emre Aras-Gorman, Pierre Okoroafor and Euan Lee-Cann achieved their Keelboat Youth Stage 1. Whilst St. Mary’s College pupils; Isabelle Stringfellow, Freya Davey, Chris Lonnon, Tom McCarthy, Eddie Smith, Matthew Janson, and Kaytlin Roberts (Charlton) achieved their level 2. Well done to all involved and many thanks to Stormforce Coaching for their patience and expertise.
