St Mary’s touching lives beyond Education
As St. Mary’s Independent School continues to celebrate their students’ exceptional GCSE results, it is the personal successes that really strike a chord and show just how effective the School’s nurturing environment is. Impressive headlines for the school show that St. Mary’s Year 11 students achieve 100% A* – C in 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths). This demonstrates that small class sizes, excellent teaching and strong pastoral care result in each student achieving their full potential.
This is no truer than for Kristen Thomasson who joined the school in Year 8. Kristen has recently been featured on St. Mary’s social media sites, raising £410 for the charity Nicole’s House by completing a Skydive. Nicole, who suffers from severe disabilities and complex health needs, is Kristen’s sister and the Thomasson family are currently raising money to enable their daughter, along with other young disabled people, to live more independently. Even with this fundraising going on in her life Kristen remained focused on her academic studies and left St. Mary’s with a grade 8 in English, 4 A grades and 5 B grades.
