Charlton joined in with several local primary schools invited to play in the inaugural rounders tournament. Charlton entered an A and B side, both of which played fantastically well to qualify through to the semi-finals as group winners. Unfortunately the B team lost their semi, however, the A team won comfortably giving themselves the chance to win the tournament. Charlton found themselves competing against St Swithun Wells who they narrowly beat in the group stage. Charlton batted first scoring a competitive 4 rounders. St Swithun Wells responded slowly, but managed to find their form with 5 balls remaining needing 2 runs to win. In a nail biting finish, Charlton managed to only concede 1 and half rounders which was sufficient to win the trophy. Everyone was grateful for the refreshments provided by our chef James and delightfully served by our Year 9 and 10 students who also helped officiate. We were so blessed with the mild weather. The heavens did not open until everyone was well on the way home before the storm broke. Our U13s cricket team weren’t so lucky and had to postpone their game which was due to be played that evening!
Special mention must go to Team A who won the tournament:
Adam Harrison Smith, Alannah Webb, Rohan Bass, Aryan Sonchhatla, Paulo Mancilla, Illan Stead, Chido Mapomba, Olin Gardner, Boniface Dobell and Imaad Altaf.
