After landing in Tan, students were transferred to the coach waiting outside, the luggage was loaded onto the roof, this coach is the one we are using throughout the trip.
Lemur island and a walk in a section of Rainforest proved to be a fantastic hands on experience! Students were fortunate enough to see 5 different types of lemurs at close quarters during the daytime and night time trecks.
Yes there were snakes too!
We arrived at the village community of Andranosa in the dark and were overwelmed by the reception, the coach was surrounded by children and adults cheering and shouting, the picture shows the school building that we stayed in, tents were erected inside the two separate classrooms, you can see the toilet block just behind (i will leave the students to describe these). The building in the distance is the one that was painted, although this was not a significant part of our work. The teaching element was far greater, with open air classes of 50 plus, a fantastic experience.
Students taking a short walk away from the Village across rice fields.
The food served was very good and included Zebu!
We are currently in Antasibe, 3 hours south of Tana. This is the second largest city in Madagascar.
We used local transport for part of our journey to th hotel!
Thats all for now – watch this space (wifi permitting).
