German Trip to the Goethe Institute in London
Students studying GCSE German enjoyed a day in London last Tuesday, when they visited The Goethe Institute. They were introduced to the library service and had time look at some the music, magazine and literature resources. There was an interactive language quiz and although it was a close run thing, the rubber duck prize (?) was finally won by Tash and Nick. Students were shown a video which explained the importance of learning a language, especially in the current business climate. I hope that they recognize the advantages of learning German in particular!
After a spot of lunch in South Kensington, it was back to the film theatre at the Institute to watch a screening of ‘Aschenputtel’ (Cinderella). The film was in German, with subtitles and students were surprised at how much of the script they could follow just by listening!
We rounded off the day with a detour to Covent Garden – impossibly Christmassy with a huge tree and house-sized reindeer!
