GCSE results 2014
Many congratulations to all our Year 11 students on their GCSE results. Their were many outstanding individual performances with an average of 10.6 GCSE grades at A*-C. Although there was a general fall in the headline rate this year to 82% A*-C (inc. English and Maths) the higher grades *A-B remain strong at 57% of all examinations sat. The changes to examination assessments and tougher marking this year make their achievements even more remarkable. The core subjects of English and Maths remain as strong as ever with a 91% and 94% pass rate at A*-C respectively.
St Mary’s College headteacher Craig Lickley with student Baqir Zaidi, who gained ten A*s and six As.The school in Southampton achieved a benchmark figure of 82 per cent of students gaining five or more GCSEs at A* to C, including maths and English.Mr Lickley said: “We are delighted with all of the hard work and effort the students have put in to gain such fantastic results.” ( Southampton Daily Echo Thursday 21st June)
