Our thanks to Year 3 (Charlton) and Year 7 (College) who lead the readings at their respective Masses outlining the life of our founder John de la Mennais. Today, Founder’s Day, Brother Francis visited and spoke at both Masses to update us on the remarkable story of this humble French lad who had a straightforward aim in life and achieved it. As a result of his endeavours thousands of men and women followed his example and joined the two religious orders that he founded to make the name of Jesus loved and better known through a solid scholastic programme. Brother challenged our pupils, not only to achieve a firm educational ambition, but also to resolve leaving St. Mary’s with those same aims as had John. If WE did not do the work that Our Lord set aside for us, it was unlikely that anybody else would do it for us. A challenge indeed for everyone!
