ESSKIA Regional Qualifying Race

The results of today’s race have been released.  Charlton’s skiers all gave their best effort and should be very proud of their performances in a very competitive race.  With over 200 athletes across all age groups it was a busy day requiring organisation and discipline by all athletes, and their support staff (also known as parents) without whom running an event like this would be much more difficult.
The results:
  • Charlton Girls A team won the Category I female group, so will be invited to race at the National Finals on Saturday 8 October – well done to Hannah, Nicole, Alannah and Laura.
  • The Girls B team of Runica, Tina and Carla also performed well in Category I, showing great progress in their skiing, but unfortunately did not qualify for the next stage.
  • Although we do not have sufficient boys to form a team, Adam and Daniel both put in excellent runs and were individually placed 6th and 8th respectively in the Category II Boys (in a field of 26).
[Category I is for skiers in Year 3 to Year 6.  Category II is for skiers in Year 7 and Year 8.  Although he is in Year 6 Adam skied in Category II in order to make up a partial team, he would have been placed 2nd in Category I.]
We now look forward to more success for the Girls A team at the National Finals, and we also hope that some of the skiers will be invited to join the ESSKIA Junior Squad for further training and development.
Thank you to all for your support at the race and also to the parents for your commitment to bringing your children to the training sessions.DSC_4113
