ESSKIA Primary Squad Easter training camp
Hannah Groves (yr 6) and Adam Harrison-Smith (yr 6) both travelled to Snowworld at Landgraaf in the Netherlands during the Easter Holidays to attend the English Ski Schools Association (ESSKIA) Primary Squad training camp. Both had been selected for their skiing performance during the year (including Hannah’s part in getting a third place for the girls team in the ESSKIA National finals last October).
27 trainees attended the camp from schools all over England and they had a very full 3 1/2 days of on slope skills and learning about and doing off slope fitness. There was, of course, lots of racing as well and Adam won silver in the boys competition. There was very little time for anything else, but they did manage to make some new friendships with fellow skiers across the country. They were both very proud to be representing the school and we think that they were great ambassadors for St Mary’s.
The school ‘ski season’ is just beginning, with our first race on Sunday 14 May. If you would like to find out more about racing for the school (no prior racing experience needed), please contact Tony Smith (firstname.lastname@example.org) Details of the race and the race entry form can be found at http://www.skisasa.co.uk/
