ESSkiA National Finals October 2017

ESSkiA National Finals October 2017

St Mary’s Independent School Ski Team took part in the ESSkiA National Artificial Slope Finals at Norfolk Snowsports Club on Saturday 7 October. The girls U12 team of Laura Harrison-Smith, Nicole Groves, Carla Lopez and Runica Hesami-Kermani were supported by Daniel Hutchings who was also a forerunner at the race.  Once again ESSkiA organised a fabulous race at the excellent dry-slope in Norwich.
The team all skied well on a slope which is much longer than their home slope at Southampton Alpine Centre.  For Carla and Runica this is also the first time that they have skied at Norwich and in such a large event.  All of the team skied well, building on their efforts in training.  When all the times had been calculated St Mary’s finished in a very creditable 5th place.
The team are now looking forward to a quieter dry slope season, and the exciting prospect of some snow skiing as winter approaches.
