Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the period of Lent and students at the College and Charlton House attended services in the College Chapel. Form 7a presented the Ash Wednesday readings then joined the whole school to receive this outward sign of our inner intention to make Lenten changes for the better. Brother James with members of the school band (Callum Craig, Edward Bailey, Eric Saboya and Sam Douglas) provided the musical accompaniment.
The Diocesan schools working committee have been working hard to put together an interactive Lenten Calendar this year, to celebrate the Year of Catholic Education. The purpose of the calendar is to help focus our prayers and thoughts on Christ Jesus during Lent. Some of the St. Mary’s students have produced videos for the website.
If you click on the link below it will take you to a web page that has been specially created to give you a daily focus each day during Lent. There is a video reflection and thought spot created by pupils across the secondary schools in the Diocese of Portsmouth for each day.
Watch out for 23rd March, 9th April and the 16th April as some of our SMC students have created these reflections.
You will not be able to open the videos until the relevant dates as each reflection ‘goes live’ on the day.
